The site selected for Sporting Clays was flat, compacted sand. Mike Davey had to design the Sporting Clay Course in reverse. Instead of planning the shooting stations and target tragectories around the existing topography, the topography had to be created around the target presentations and stations. First the stations positions were planned and staked, then the station platforms were built.
